Whitney Wolfe Makes It Easier To Find Your New Best Friend

Entrepreneur and founder of online dating site, Bumble, Whitney Wolfe has broadened the company’s scope with the launch of Bumble BFF, a new way to make friends.

When Whitney Wolfe noticed Bumble users were previously using the app to meet friends as well as romantic partners, she resolved to make it less complicated by adding a feature that allows users to search for friends in a new city or for those looking to meet new people. She also realized her busy lifestyle afforded her little time to make friends.

A story, published at, describes how Whitney Wolfe made a safe, comfortable place available to create new connections and how BFF works.

Users can download the Bumble app and sign up through Facebook which will gather basic information as well as photos. After logging in, users set up a basic Bumble profile that highlights qualities and leisure activities.

When the Bumble app has been completed, users switch to Bumble BFF mode. To make a distinction between BFF and regular Bumble, the app will be color coded. The system will show green when using Bumble BFF and yellow for the standard dating app.

Users can then choose their search area either limiting it to their hometown or including adjoining areas.

The app will return results for people available if the match is reciprocated. If you are interested in a particular match, swipe right to save it, or if you are not interested, swipe left to remove it.

After both people swipe right, they have 24 hours to initiate a conversation and after that time they disappear.

There are no restrictions on how to make use of Bumble BFF. For example, if you are traveling to a new area temporarily, you can quickly find a weekend friend that might take you shopping or to a local exhibition.

Whitney Wolfe was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1990 and currently resides in Austin, Texas. Early in her career she worked for Hatch Labs and went on to co-found Tinder.

She was named one of Business Insider’s 30 Most Important Women Under 30 in Tech in 2014.
